who actually likes the Scion iQ?
It's the one city car I'd get. Sucks it's going out of production.

Shouldn't be too hard to find a used one if you decide to get one.
I don't mind the proportions of the thing, but I think the interior looks really ugly, and I dislike the contours of the taillights and the rear side windows.

Ooh I like it. I love small city cars, they make so much sense.
except the Cygnet that was just hilarious

If my next rental was to head over to NJ to buy stuff from the Japanese grocery store? Yeah. We could get all the bags into it ... I'll give it a shot.

Yes. You are literally the only person.

In Japan or London, I can see the point of these things. When parking is hard to come by and expensive, this and the Smart can make sense. But in America (or any place developed after the advent of the car), why the hell would anyone actually buy one of these? Like, with their own money? Just go buy a Fiesta or a motorcycle. More practical, faster, same or better fuel economy.

I've always thought they weren't BAD. But they were overpriced, and didn't make much sense for the 85% of America which isn't city.

No, she does not like the iQ either...

Needs a manual. The CVT sucks. But, otherwise, it's great.

Maybe they shouldn't have named an exceptionally small car after something that is better when it is big. ..

I'll take the Aston counter part.

I like it, I just have no use for a city car. The seating/dash are a good idea, and it's a very efficient package.

Probably

I love it, but the fact that we can't get one in manual pushed me away. It's the only Scion ever to not offer the option....wait, scratch that. MANUALS IN SCIONS ARE STANDARD....automatics are optional. Thing thing only has a CVT. No bueno.

Have you been in one or driven one?
On paper they seem like a great idea. However, the turning radius isn't great (large-ish wheels/tires don't help), interior is just as much of a mess as the exterior, visibility isn't great, and price-wise I could get the slightly-larger, much more fun and practical Mazda2 and be in the same ballpark. The Mazda also happens to look much better, rather than two halves of two different cars welded behind the doors. Add in the new 2 coming later this year, or the 2-based CX-3, and the IQ becomes much less appealing. Alternately, the current Yaris isn't that bad, and I have a strong appreciation for the clever single-front-wiper setup. Sure, the 2 and Yaris aren't typical "city cars" like the IQ, smart for two, and some Euro -only models (and kei-cars), but I've never been in a situation where I wished my car was that much shorter, and I DD a Volvo wagon.
That said, if someone put a gun to my head and made me choose an iQ or a current smart for two (not the new one), I'd pick the Aston Martin Cygnet.
